The Purpose Of The Clock

What is a Clock? It is a instrument that is used to indicate, measure, and keep coordinate time. The word clock was derived originally from the Celtic word clagan and clocca meaning "bell". A horologist and other specialists the meaning of clock means a device that has a striking mechanism for alerting intervals of time acoustically. This is usually done by ringing a bell,a chime,or a gong.A timepiece is a silent instrument that lacks this mechanism.Usage of the term  "clock" today is any device that measures and displays the time.A watch or timepiece that is carried on a person can often be distinguished from Clocks. One of the oldest human inventions is the clock. It meets the need to measure intervals of time shorter than natural units. That includes day, lunar month, and year. These devices operate on several different processes that have been used over the milenia to reach what they are today.

There are different purposes for Clocks. They are often displayed in homes, offices, and many other places.Watches are the smaller ones that are displayed on the wrist.Public places will usually display the larger clocks, such as at a train station or a church. Some computer displays, mobile phones, and many MP3 players will often display a clock in a corner of the screen.

To display the time is not always the purpose of Clocks. It may be used to control a device according to time. This would include an alarm clock,a VCR,or a time bomb. When you are speaking in this context it is more appropriate to call it a timer or trigger mechanism rather than as a clock.

A computer relies on an internal clock signal for synchronized processing. Some computers will maintain the time and date for all operations whether it be for alarms, event invitations,or even if it is just to display the time of the day.The internal Clocks of a computer generally will run on a small battery. Most computers can still function normally even if the small battery for the clock is dead.If the battery is dead then the computer clock will need to be reset. It will need to be reset each time the computer is restarted.Once the power is lost the time will also be lost.
